Who is responsible

Abdul Hakim Norazman is the data controller for Residue Lens, an independent UK-based project. Use the contact form for privacy questions, rights requests or complaints; include an email if you need a reply.

Browser-only lists

Without an account, your named lists are stored only in this browser using local storage. They are not transmitted to Residue Lens. Clearing site data removes them. Export and import happen only when you choose a file; shopping-mode ticks reset when the page closes.

What is collected and why

Optional account sync stores your authentication identifier, named lists and food identifiers so you can use a list across devices. Feedback and food requests store the text you submit and, if supplied, an email for a reply. The Plus waitlist stores your email only to send relevant Plus updates. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights provide aggregate page-use, action and performance measurements without advertising cookies.

Lawful bases

Account sync is processed to provide the service you request. Feedback, food requests and aggregate measurement are processed for the legitimate interests of operating, correcting and improving this small public-interest product, balanced against the limited data involved. Plus waitlist email is processed with your consent, which you can withdraw through the contact form at any time.

Your choices and retention

Nothing is uploaded from browser-only lists automatically. Cloud lists remain until you delete them or ask for account data to be removed. Feedback and food requests are reviewed at least annually and deleted when no longer needed to reply, correct the product or keep a necessary correction record. Waitlist addresses remain until you withdraw, the relevant update has been sent and follow-up is complete, or the Plus project is closed.

Service providers and international processing

Vercel hosts the site and provides aggregate analytics; Clerk provides optional identity; Neon provides the account and private-inbox database. These processors may handle data outside the UK under their contractual transfer safeguards. Residue Lens does not sell personal data or share it for third-party advertising. Contact the project for details of the safeguards relevant to your information.

Your rights

Depending on the processing, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object to use of your information. You may withdraw waitlist consent at any time. No decisions with legal or similarly significant effects are made solely by automated processing. Contact Residue Lens first so the issue can be investigated; you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office ↗.

Payments

Residue Lens Plus is not currently on sale and the public site does not offer checkout. The payment foundation remains dormant for possible future testing. If paid access is introduced, its price, terms and payment provider will be shown before any payment decision. Existing test subscription records can still be managed through the account page.
